We have started a gradual introduction of MySQL 8 to all of our servers. My SQL 8 has reached a point were it is well mature, widely adopted and compatible with all major applications used by out clients and we believe that the time to make it the default MySQL version on our servers has come.
This is a standard procedure that will be performed late at night when traffic is low. A brief service interruption (under 30 minutes) may occur while updating the software.
MySQL 8.0 offers better performance than MySQL 5.7 such as improved index and query execution. Better security policies, such as password expiration and policies, help to protect your data from unauthorized access. Better scalability such as improved resource management and support for more efficient queries.
